Derry Author Fest 2017: Character! Setting! Magic!

“…a day of writing workshops, panels and networking for aspiring authors, dreamers and dabblers alike.”

If you’re looking for a worthwhile **free** writing event, look no further! This Saturday, the Derry Public Library (64 East Broadway, Derry, NH 03038) is holding Derry Author Fest from 10 am to 4 pm. I was fortunate to participate in last year’s Author Fest as the mystery/thriller table moderator and I had a great time networking with other authors and attending informative workshops.

The day will start with a poem by Derry’s poet laureate, Robert Crawford. The first speaker is Dan Szczesny presenting “Travel Writing for the Fearless.” Next up is “Creating Realistic Characters for Your Fantasy World” with Heidi Heilig. After a lunch break, Nicole Tadgell is presenting “Anatomy of a Picture Book” followed by Paul Durham with “Middle Grade Magic.” The day concludes with a panel discussion of “The Writing Process.” Erin E. Moulton is moderating and panelists include Katie Bayerl, Adi Rule, K.R. Conway, Francisco X. Stork, and MarcyKate Connolly.

Attendees can stay all day, half day, or just drop in for a session. Registration isn’t required, but is appreciated so the organizers know how many people to expect. Scroll down on the library’s calendar page to “May 6” and you’ll see a registration button. It promises to be an inspiring and enlightening day!

Wow, this sounded fantastic! I wish I could’ve gone, but I had family in town.

We'd love to hear from you, please leave a comment.
